Our seventh minisode of “The Creative Influencer” podcast is available today for download on iTunes, Spotify, and premier platforms everywhere. In minisodes, we answer questions that our listeners have emailed Jon. In this minisode, Jon answers a question about the introduction of augmented reality on YouTube.
A transcript of the episode follows:
Today’s e-mail is from Suki and the subject is simply “VR on YT.” It reads:
I heard that YouTube is going to start offering Virtual Reality ads. What’s your take on this?
Suki, we’re not quite to virtual reality. YouTube announced that there will be augmented reality ads that will show different shades of lipstick on your face – kind of like a Snapchat filter.
The reason I picked your e-mail to read is because I think this is just the beginning of a really exciting change in marketing. I predict that in five years there will be YouTube videos that will offer a true virtual reality experience. You’ll be able to walk around a room with your favorite YouTuber while they show you around.
Imagine it. You’ll be able to try things you’ve never tried. You’ll be able to go places you’ve never been and actually interact with your surroundings.
On the business side, it will also give marketers a change to let you touch a product rather than just seeing a picture and being told about it.
These are exciting times. Hang on because it’s going to be a really fun ride.
That’s it for this minisode.
The Creative Influencer is a podcast about Instagram, YouTube and all things social media.
